Michael Fabiano & Rachel Willis-Sørensen Lead Metropolitan Opera’s ‘Il Trovatore’

The Metropolitan Opera is set to revive Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” with Michael Fabiano singing the lead role of Manrico.
The American tenor will make his role debut in Sir David McVicar’s acclaimed Goya-inspired production.
Manrico will also be performed by Gwyn Hughes Jones in the final two performances, reprising the last role he sang at the Met in 2012.
The tenors will be accompanied by sopranos Rachel Willis-Sørensen and Angela Meade who share the role of Leonora, and mezzo-sopranos Jamie Barton and Olesya Petrova, who will alternate as Azucena.
The cast is rounded out by baritone Igor Golovatenko as the Count di Luna and bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green as Ferrando. Maestro Daniele Callegari conducts.
“Il Trovatore” will be performed 12 times from Oct. 26 through Nov. Dec. 6, 2024. The Oct. 29, Nov. 22, and Dec. 3 performances will be broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio. and will also be rebroadcast over The Robert K. Johnson Foundation–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network on May 3.
