Opera Hispánica Unveils 2024-25 Season

The season kicks off on Oct. 10 with the world premiere of “Las Maldiciones,” a monodrama for soprano and bandoneon. The performance features soprano Sasha Gutiérrez alongside composer Rodolfo Zanetti and baritone Fabian Veloz.

In February, the company presents “Klara,” an opera in four haikus. It is presented in collaboration with National Sawdust, Divaria, and New York City Opera, and with partial support from the Spanish government through Acción Cultural Espa˜õla. The production is directed by Richard Strafford and stars Ashley Galvani Bell. Silvia Santinelli and Pedro Halffter perform at the piano. There will also be a panel discussion. before the performance.
Performance Date: Feb. 28, 2025
The season ends with “Music at the Missions – 1st Festival of Latin American Baroque at the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. It is presented in collaboration with the Archdiocese of San Antonio, the National Parks Service, and the UNESCO World Heritage Convention. Jorge Parodi conducts the members of Esperanza Azteca and the orchestra of the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez.
