Opera Australia’s Management to Be Reviewed
By Francisco SalazarCreative Australia is set to review Opera Australia’s management.
Limelight is reporting that Nine Entertainment Co mastheads the major review of Opera Australia’s management and decision-making processes are being made following the sudden resignation of its Artistic Director Jo Davies after only 18 months in the role.
The review will be helmed by Gabrielle Trainor, a lawyer and former journalist with three decades of experience on boards in the public and private sectors ranging from infrastructure, financial services, transport, and urban development, to sports, arts, and culture organizations.
However, Opera Australia’s CEO Fiona Allan told the Sydney Morning Herald that the review was “unrelated” to Davies’s departure.
Davis stepped down in August and said, “I am proud of the artistic excellence and success of the work we have been able to achieve in my tenure and enormously grateful to the amazing audiences, patrons, artists, and colleagues who have made my time as Artistic Director so rewarding. I look forward to building new creative relationships with audiences and artists here in Australia.”
