Verona to Celebrate Tullio Serafin

Verona is set to celebrate Maestro Tullio Serafin on Dec. 17.

The concert will showcase the Società Letteraria di Verona. The event, which is supported by the Amministrazione Comunale di Verona – Assessorato alla cultura, is organized by the associazione culturale “Concetto Armonico” and the Archivio storico Tullio Serafin.

The concert will see such artists as Arianna Giuffrida and Said Gobechiya, winners of the “Concorso lirico Tullio Serafin,” Claudia Ceraulo and Elisabetta Ricci perform alongside pianist Fausto Di Benedetto. They will present excerpts from operas by Mozart, Donizetti, Rossini, Massenet, Offenbach, and Puccini.

Serafin was one of the most influential conductors of his generation and conducted in Torino and La Scala from 1903 to 1918. He also participated in the creation of the Verona Festival in 1913. He conducted at the Arena di Verona’s 40th and 45th anniversaries.
