Experiments in Opera to Present Double Bill
By Francisco SalazarExperiments in Opera is set to present “The Incomplete Cosmicomics,” a stand-alone opera by composer/writer Anna Heflin for vocalizing cellist/actor and electronics in which author Italo Calvino’s mystical entity Qfwfq continues his journey.
The work will be performed alongside “This is Not About Natalie,” a one-act opera with words and music by Jason Cady. The opera features a solo singer with a ventriloquist doll and guitar.
The two works will be performed on March 20-22 2025 at The Tank in NYC and Shannon Sindelar is the director/dramaturg of both pieces.
Heflin is a composer and writer whose works have been performed at Ostrava Days, Bohemian National Hall, DOX Prague, PowerStation NYC, Banff Centre, Arete Gallery, Spectrum NYC, University of Oregon, and Rochester Fringe Festival while Jason Cady is a composer and librettist who is the Artistic Director of Experiments in Opera.
Experiments in Opera is an artist-led non-profit opera company that opens up the boundaries of opera by supporting and guiding an inclusive group of artists, musicians, composers, and librettists to expand their craft.
